50 km ultramarathon at the Riverdale Regional Park in Brighton Colorado.
I checked off the state of Colorado (37) and set a p.r. with a time of 5:36 in the “Runs with scissors” 50k. 24 laps on 1.3 mile course. Big surprise as my left knee was immobile 4 days prior and was not sure that I would even start. The 80 degree weather and elevation were a definite factor cramping at mile 13 in my calves and hamstrings. I was drinking Gatorade, taking endurolytes, and shots of pickle juice but it wouldn’t subside. Yes, the option of dropping to down to 26.2 mile distance crossed my mind, but no. Hustle and heart got me to the finish line.
